Typing Timer is a very simple program that will help you to do timed drills. In the default set up, it measures a 1 minute time interval and indicates the beginning and end with both visual and sound effects. The length of the time interval, the delay after which the timer starts running, as well as the type of effects at the beginning and end of the time interval can be adjusted.
Typing Timer always stays on top of all your windows, whether it is active or not, so that you can see it while you type. On the other hand, Typing Timer's window is very small so that it does not interfere with your typing or reading the drill.
We have tested Typing Timer on Windows ME and Windows 2000, but it should run without any problems on Windows 98, Windows 95, as well as Windows NT. We apologize to all UNIX, LINUX, and Macintosh users--at this time we do not have resources to support these operating systems. For UNIX users, sequence of commands
> sleep 5; printf "\007"; sleep 60; printf "\007" (wait 5 seconds; beep; wait 60 seconds; beep) could be used to time your drills. This also works on LINUX and can be easily modified to suit your needs.
The program itself is fairly small, the size of version 1.0 is less than 150kB, so it should take about 43 seconds to download it using a 28kbps connection.
