  DRILL BOX       ["] (Quotation mark)
Use left [Shift] key and right little finger.
Repeat each line at least twice.Quotation mark (") is always used in pairs, mostly for "verbatim quotes," that is for phrases that someone else said. They are also used for emphasis, unusual expressions, introduction of a new concept, etc. Below are rules for combining quotation marks with other punctuations--sometimes they do not make any sense so we might at times break them. Rather than blindly following these rules, we suggest to use common sense. (And that applies not only to quotation marks.)
- Place commas and periods before the second quotation mark.
- Place colons and semicolons after the second quotation mark.
- If the entire quote is a question or exclamation, place question mark or exclamation point before the second quotation mark, otherwise place question marks or exclamation points after the second quotation mark.
